
Mr. Douglas Berquist
Content Producer- Learning Designer - Digital Media Strategist
Mr. Berquist is an award-winning producer who experience spans 30 years of media productions from feature films and television (both domestic and international) to artist driven works for international gallery exhibition. He has produced projects which involved major studios like United Artist, MGM, Path, SONY Entertainment and Alliance Entertainment and distributors like BMG Classics and Porchlight. The television projects he has produced and directed have been broadcast by companies like, Space Channel, A&E, HBO, CBC, and TNT. Most recently, 4 of his feature films were acquired by the Canadian National Film Archives and he now is recognized as a Canadian filmmaker of distinction. As an Executive Producer he has packaged, financed and produced over 60 million dollars in feature film projects across nine countries (25 million dollar spend in his local area), winning him a local award for "Producer of the Year". As result of all the media he has produced and promoted over the years he has utilized multiple digital platforms for marketing and consumer communications. Thus, over the last 15 years he has specialized in Digital Media Strategies. His expertise in "Transmedia and multi-platform narratives has resulted in him being contracted (2016-2017) as a subject matter expert by both NAIT and SAIT developing new Digital Media, Digital Cinema and Transmedia curriculum for their IT Communications programs. In addition, Berquist was also commissioned for his expertise by the Department of National Defense to develop multi-media and digital platform cultural training systems for soldiers deploying to active military zones. Learning systems for which he received special commendations from the Canadian Armed Forces, for the remarkable success of this project (reduced casualties civilian and military by 50%). Currently, he is designing an educational video streaming platform (OTT) for Concordia University Edmonton.
In parallel to his extensive media career he has worked in the fine arts (mixed media formats), a selection of which have been exhibited locally and international and several have been procured by the permanent collections of the Auckland Museum of Modern Art.

Learning Design Specialist - Educational Content Director

Dr. Joe Mils (PhD) Associate Professor University of Colorado - Psycho/sociology /Sports /Education / Learning Design and Educational Content.
Dr. Mils is a specialist in learning, education and development underpinned by 14-years teaching a full range of high school settings (e.g., children with emotional, social and behavioral; or severe, profound and physical learning difficulties to “gifted” children). He has a Ph.D. in the psycho/sociology of high-performance sports coach education producing 22 peer-reviewed articles in the highest quality academic settings, invitations to 12 world-leading sports universities and testimonies from world-leading coaches. He is also a licensed professional psychologist and structural health/movement restoration teacher. Dr. Mils is going to focus on the development of the educational content required by potential arts channel operators of CCS. His insight into the use of OTT’s as learning platforms is going to help develop approaches and re-code parameters for phase two.

New Media Specialist - Digital Media Community Director

Art has worked in the creative industries in various sectors and capacities for 20 plus years, on and off screen, front and backstage, music and film. He has traveled and worked out of some 20 countries and 200 cities, been involved with 35 film productions and 400 music concerts, festivals and stage shows. At the same time has been a Digital Media and Arts Admin Consultant in the corporate and entertainment industry for ten years - developing and implementing digital media strategies and tactical initiatives for some of the most well-known brands in the Canadian entertainment industry. This included working across organizations to ensure their digital media strategy is tightly aligned to their brand, corporate values and key messaging; using a variety of digital and social media technologies creatively to achieve measurable results. Some of the brands he has worked with include: Calgary Expo, Edmonton International Film Festival, Red Door Brands, Chronograph Records and the Story World Quest Transmedia Conference. Arts role in PPN is twofold. He will be guiding the digital marketing strategies to ensure we are reaching our three major demographic groups and he will be our cultural industries channel coordinator. This area of the market is massive and is one where new channel operators will need to be educated on the extensive opportunity that is available to them through extending their current activities onto a video streaming platform.
